Archival Prints
Archival Prints
Digital archival prints are made using Epson Professional Inkjet Printers with Epson’s archival Ultrachrome inks and various archival materials including photographic papers and canvas. Digital archival printing offers advantages such as increased archival stability, photo restoration and color correction opportunities, and consistency in producing multiple quantities.
The exact sizes and paper choices available for these prints vary depending on the size, condition and resolution of the source material. Here are descriptions of our archival materials:
Enhanced/Archival Matte Paper - matte finish with smooth, bright white paper -
most economical archival paper option
- best for maps and atlases
Luster/Satin Paper - satin finish with pearl luster appearance
- superior image quality and scratch resistance
- best for black & white and color photographs
Somerset Velvet Paper - velvet finish with radiant white surface
- rich details and exceptional contrast
- best for fine art illustrations and watercolor paintings
Canvas Giclée - matte or glossy finishes available
- canvas is sprayed with UV and scratch resistant protective overcoat
- best for fine art oil paintings
We select the most appropriate archival substrates and sizes to best fit each particular image collection. Depending on the type of archival material used, these prints have an archive life of between 75 - 200 years of lightfastness under proper lighting conditions.
Additional sizes and photographic papers may be available. Please contact us for an estimate at sales@thedigitalark.com.
High-Resolution Digital Files
All digital files are available in TIFF format. Files have a minimum resolution of 8” X 10” at 300dpi. Higher resolution files are available upon request. This file format is the archival standard with lossless compression and allows you the most flexibility to modify the resolution, color space and file format for your particular output medium, i.e. CMYK for offset printing or JPG and downsample to 72 dpi for web uses.
In order for these images to appear as close to the original as possible, we apply a variety of imaging enhancements and corrections to the digital files which may include tonal levels, brightness/contrast, color adjustments, cropping, rotation, and photo restoration.
Please keep in mind that these are digital images of often aged materials, and therefore may contain blemishes, scratches, tears, and other imperfections.
High–resolution digital files that you purchase will not have the watermark that appears on the web site.
The TIFF files are available for downloading immediately after purchase.
